i have been trying to upgrade my OS X to the current version [10.2.8].

my current version is 10.2

but for some reason when i click to check for new software and the latest upgrade of the OS shows up, the INSTALL button appears to be greyed out and i can't click the checkbox beside the software to install it.

is it the case that i need to upgrade to an ealier version fiorst before being able to jump to the current 10.2.8 version?

any one else have this problem or know how to fix it?

Just a stab in the dark here, but are you logged in with administrator rights?

I have re-installed 10.2 and then used Software Update to apply the 10.2.8 combo updater.

So that CAN be done without an intermediary upgrade.

I would suggest you try repairing Permissions before you attempt to upgrade.

Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility>First Aid>Repair Permissions

make sure you select the Hard Disk that has the NAME (like Macintosh HD) or the Repair button will be grayed out.
