RAID solution for OS9

Have a client with around 10 000 images on CD's and now want them on the hard drive for easier access.
Currently they are using OS9 and Portfolio for managing the images, OS X not an option at the moment.

I suggested a RAID solution, getting an additional hard drive and mirroring the two drives.

I prefer a RAID card as I believe they are better than software solutions (could be wrong there)
Software wise, I've been looking at Softraid and Charismac RAID.

Wondered if anyone has used any of the above solutions and how easy it was to setup etc.
