I had a few problems with my G4 this morning, hanging whilst printing out a huge file. Upshot is when I launch Netscape it comes up with the following error message:

Configuration Warning
An error occured reading the startup configuration file.
Please contact your administrator. line 469: SyntaxError: illegal character

When I click OK it asks me register as though I am a new user. I cancel that and see it still has my bookmarks but no email - it asks me to register for email services.

Can anyone help please?

Also can anyone recommend a new email package for mac that is easily backed-up?

Hey Serio,

Netscape email is pretty easily backed up. I go to System Folder : Preferences : Netscape Users : and at this point there is a folder that holds all of your email data -including all old emails. I regularly back this up to an external drive in the form of one drag and drop of the icons.

I've had the problems re being asked register before. I think it's corrupted preferences. I use Earthlink and their tech support walks me through a new register and I'm back on with nothing changed.

Thanks john - unfortunately I have already moved to Eudora - but I have to say I don't like it much - but for little niggly things only.
