The worst thing about Mail

Speaking as a webmaster...

As the designer/webmaster of dozens of sites for our clients, I use a lot of "webmaster@theclientsdomain.com" addresses. I get email at those addresses, and I need to be able to reply from those addresses, too.

All of these virtual addresses point to my main work account, of course. Don't want to have to check three dozen mailboxes or anything silly like that.

In Entourage, I could setup an Account/Personality for every one of these "webmaster" addresses, listing that as the From/Reply address, and my main work account as the login/password information.

Mail won't let you do this. You setup the first Account and everything's fine, but if you try to setup another account with a new From address, but the same login/password, it won't let you. Say what? I suppose this is supposed to be a security feature of some unknown origin, but as a webmaster of many sites, it stinks to not be able to setup multiple Accounts with different From/Reply addresses.

(Yes, I've found a workaround for this ... but that doesn't diminish the silliness of the restriction.)

Anyone else frustrated with this? Maybe it's just me...

Yes - that's why i use Mail pretty rarely. Exacty the same issue drove me nuts. Hopefully they'll come out with a better version soon. I bet they will since there's a move away from ms solutions for mac.

Not my experience. The only frustrating thing is that the incoming mail server is required - so I just put one in there and just uncheck "Include when automatically checking for new mail" in the Advanced tab

I'm using Mail 1.3 (v606), Panther 10.3

Exactly. That's the workaround I mentioned. But it's stupid to have to do that.

If you want a hardcore email program, you gotta get a hardcore OS ;-)

But, I think you can get MUTT [mutt.org] to run nuder WIn..

I don't want another email client. Mail has some nice features that I really do like in Panther, it's just this one (stupid) thing that drives me crazy. Did I mention how stupid it is?

I find that Mail + MailTemplates works great.

I have one account for each website which also keeps them in different inboxes which is nice for searching and looking for different threads.
