That is a great sign for the company does the article mention how much of their new music service accounted for the beating of the expectations?

Seems that with the number of songs they've sold, that would have contributed a lot to their bottom line. Now that I've read it, 6.5 million songs. Not bad at all.

Actually, I think iTunes Music Store was probably a net minus as far as profits go for them this quarter. Their investment expenditures were up, and a lot of that was probably involved with bringing iTunes online.

Since they're now working on iTunes for Windows, I don't expect that to change immediately.

That said, iTunes looks to be well on the way for paying for itself.
