Un-updatable Safari

Recently, the updater keeps prompting me to update Safari (my current ver.: 1.0 Beta 2 (v73)).
But when I try, the updater, or the downloaded update.pkg, refuses to update that I already have a "newer version (1.0.0.1.75)."
Is there any way to work around this problem?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, I did try that, but still got this same message that I already have a "newer version (1.0.0.1.75)."
BTW, is this "1.0.0.1.75" means version 75?

If you propperly tossed the old copy you should not be getting that message. To the best of my knowledge ...1.75 should be v75. v75 is already out?

Itchy, I will look into this a little more in a bit and get back with you. If someone else has a ready answer, please jump in.

Ok, I looked around. Although it says ...1.75 Apple is only on v74 of Safari. So I am at a loss there. Should indicate v75, but who knows.

As for the update problem, it is really strange. You might need to go a little deeper in your tossing. Run a search for Safari, and through everthing that comes up away. Exception, if you have MS Office you will have two files that are named Safari. You don't want to toss those as well. I would recommend check each return for Safari if you have Office installed. If you do not have Office installed you should get 6 returns.

Restart your machine once you have deleted all Safarai files. Now, try DLing one more copy of Safari from Apple [apple.com...] and install.

Hope this helps

First of all, thank you so much for all your time and trouble > aaronjf, ALL
Today, finally, I'd been able to update my v73 to v74 successfully!
As you'd told me, aaronjf, deleting only the "Safari", v73, icon before running SafariUpdate.pkg did not help at all, and this should mean, there must be some other place that this updater package check for the current installed version.
And them, some people suggested me on Apple Suppot Discussions board that it could be a copy of the last updater that OS X store on every update in /Library/Reciepts/.
Well, deleting this file, yes, I'd have kept a copy for later analysis, made all the defference and now I have v74 running without losing any of my previous settings.
Thank you again for all your help and concern, I'm afraid I can't do much help back...BTW, I'm an Urologist running my own clinic in Tokyo. Maybe you happen to be in my city and HAPPEN to meet a wrong kind of girl... :-)

I just got on OS 10.2, downloaded Safari and it says I'm at 1.0 v85. It's not telling me to download Safari again. I think there doing a bunch of updates, from 73 to 85 it looks like there updating it twice a week.

I think, this is the one that Steeve Jobs annonced at WWDC in SF.
Pretty much stable, but still so many poor handling of Japanese language.
