Mac IE 5.x not recognizing index.html

My problem is that I have developed a page that appears fine in various versions of windows IE, netscape, and opera...yet, people who go to the site on mac ie 5.x cannot load the page. It constantly says that the page is still loading. However, if the mac person loads not just the mysite.com, but puts the actual full url, (www.mysite.com/index.html), they can load the page fine. I originally thought that this was a problem with their server; yet, I replicated the files on a different server entirely, and still had the same problem!

I don't know if I am explaining this clearly. But has anyone ever heard of this type of thing?

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, and to the Macintosh Webmaster forum.

IE on the Mac is quite picky about valid source code, both for HTML and CSS. It is recommended to validate both, starting with CSS since it is the most common reason for various and numerous glitches.
