Wow, since Algore "invented the internet"
Gore had said, "During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet."
He got sliced and diced for this comment - oh NO, how could he have invented the internet when ARPANET was developed before he was ever in Congress?! - when what he meant was that he laid the political groundwork and helped promote the public vision that made the internet as we know it today possible.
Which is pretty accurate, when you look at the things he did while he was in Congress.
Just thought I'd throw this into the thread. :)
However, 'creating' makes it sound like he was working late nights at his PC making the internet from scratch which, your comments above accepted, is at best misleading.
I know you were being facetious when you said this, but so many people think Gore actually took credit for "inventing the internet" when he didn't that it drives me bananas.
He speaks like people write resumes... make everything sound a little *more* and a little *better* than it is in real life (a technique used in resumes and personal ads both, I suppose). Killed his campaign doing that... everyone was so quick to jump on every exaggeration as an outright lie, when the same tactics are used every day by earnest job seekers nationwide.
Probably just as well for Apple though. If he'd gotten elected, they might have had to put GW on the board instead. ;)
:)
Mr. Gore might attract a niche market because of his presence, on the other hand he is definitely not a positive adition to an "ailing" company. Mr. Gore has almost no business experience, other then short stint as a home builder.
