Change default view of ALL folders

This has bugged me forever. Is there a way to change the default view of all the folders in 9.x to 'view as list' instead of as 'icons'?

I know how to do it for every individual window, but I want the change to happen for all windows now and forevermore.

While we're at it, is there a way to change the default from opening every window to just having one window open and having the contents change?

As far as I know, the finder's preferences and the appearance control panel will not let you do that.

But apparently Neatnik [ironsoftware.com] will(7 $ shareware).

Please let us know if you liked Neatnik.

I will have a look for those windows things later.
