Looks like they snuck the final version of Opera 6 for the Mac out on Dec 12. I missed it until last night. Been playing with it and all the issues seem resolved. New default browser! :)

Have you paid for it? If not, do the ads bug you? I thought about downloading it and using it, but the viewing of ads bothered me. How does it compare to Mozilla? I still use dumpy IE...mostly because of all of my bookmarks/favorites are in there, and partly out of habit.

The ads don't bother me. Download it and try the free version. You can always upgrade to the paid later if you like it.

I got addicted to Opera on Windows and I've been pining away here on the Mac without it. :)

I am liking this Mac version so far. I do not like IE and Moz is okay but I find it a little slow. Plus I missed the features that Opera has. I like the way Opera handles bookmarks and I like the search form right on the browser.

Added: you should be able to import those IE bookmarks without problem.

Opera 6 *still* has buggy CSS-support :-(

1) css background-image *doesn't* work for all elements
2) absolutely positioning images *doesn't* honor the containing <div> if it's relatively positioned
3) javascripting the DOM & CSS isn't fully supported

These issues has been fixed in OperaWin 7!
In my opinion, they ought to have have skipped v6 for Linux and Mac and gone straight to v7.

I'll happily pay to just support Opera, *but* they'll have to do a better job with the CSS-support first.

Mozilla (and clones) is the ***only*** browser on the Mac to get CSS right!

Brad,

If you like a search-box integrated in the browser-window try Mozilla with add-ons ; in particular the combination of Multizilla and Googlebox or Googlebar by itself. All can be found on Mozdev
