Hi,

I'm tired of receiving junk emails that I suspect they're originating from the "whois" data.
Does the information in the "Registrant Information" matter? Can I just leave it blank?

No, the ICANN requires you to have up to date registrant information.

There's good reason for having contact information in there - if there ever is a problem with your site, that will be the first place someone looks to contact you.

Domains by Proxy is a nice service that hides your Whois data for an annual fee.

You can keep yourself up to date and easy to find, yet control where and how you are found. One of my new clients flipped when I started discussing one of her sites that I "didn't know about". She was very happy with the groundwork that I had done, but mortified that I also had her home address, phone number, fax number. I explained that I verified the site through whois. It had never occured to her that this information was out there. She will be "updating" her information to an office contact REALLY soon. The whois has served me well many a time. Most people have no idea.
