Can someone tell me what is wrong with the naming of our dynamic web pages, so that they never get indexed by google at all? Our home page has PR6 so I know it's not our site in general.

Here is an an example of our urls not being indexed

http://www.example.com/cgi/ordering/detail.pl?course=1

We previously had is as "/detail.pl?id=1" and changed it to "course=1" because we thought Google had a problem with the "id=" but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Please help!

Patty

How long since the change? I've noticed some slow crawling lately. I put up a new fall foliage link on the front page of a PR5 site weeks ago that hasn't been followed--leaves have already turned brown & fallen.

Check your logs. Have the renamed pages been spidered yet? If not, change it back to id=. I've had no problem whatsoever with id= & Google.

Have you checked your logs for Fresh bot and Google bot? If so did you notice any trends on the crawl (what pages/directories did it hit)? If so maybe change it back to ID=? On some of my index pages I give links to new products (I.E. a featured product rotation). I also give static links to categories with new products as a featured line.

Just some thoughts.
