When importing music files into flash does it matter if it's wav or mp3 files. thanks in advance

No because when you export the file you get to set the audio preference.

please check the "Publish settings" when you export it. Check the settings quality. wavs and mp3 are both have good qualities but in the case of flash mp3 is better than wav3 for the reason that wavs takes a lot of space,so it takes longer to download than mp3s.therefore, don't use wav unless you have to.
