Besides migrating to a new host...for what reasons might your DNS's change?

Do you change your DNS's often?

If you do move hosts, what are some ways (or things to think about) to make the transition as smooth as possible with no downtime.

I know this is very broad- but any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Setting up subdomains, aliases, mailservers, and moving to another domain/ip, that's basically it. There's absolutely no need to change DNS settings unless you really have to (there's no SE benefit either).

No, absolutely not. Avoid it if you can. Do it if you have to.

These two threads will answer your questions i believe:

1) Moving website to another server [webmasterworld.com] (Sept 24, 2003)

2) Site change of URL [webmasterworld.com] (Sept 18, 2003)
