I have only done two sites. First one I used FP2000. I didn't like the idea of the length of time it takes to publish a site. I used a freebie tool for my other site called Web Matrix(asp.net). In fact, I redid my FP site using it.
Before I download a free trial of DW, do you publish with it as FP? With WM, I just ftp everything there. Takes seconds vs. sometimes 15 minutes with FP(I have dial-up modem).
Also, anyone care to point out why they like FP or DW against the other?
Thanks very much.
John

Hi,

From my experience of DW3 (there are 2 or three further versions now I think..) I can tell you that it's very, very easy to upload a site. And has a nice feature I forget the name of that lets you synchronize your local and remote versions.

If you must use a WYSIWYG DW is definately the best on the market, and consequently the most expensive. My info is a little old but I think you'll find it still holds true.

Dreamweaver has a built in FTP tool - it is extremely quick and easy to upload your files using Dreamweaver. I have used both Frontpage and Dreamweaver, and I personally prefer Dreamweaver.

Here is another thread on Dreamweaver vs. Frontpage [webmasterworld.com]

Since DW was never the only tool I used, I always used a program specifically for ftp: WS_FTP. And it works great for ftp downloads.

I would go along with that. I changed from FP to DW a couple of years ago, and DW is much more satisfactory

You just hit "synchronise" and it does the rest, either for one file or for the whole site.

If you do want to say download lofg files, then the built in FTP does that for you. I did use WS_FTP before, but no longer bother, using DW instead
