Which link is better

mydomain.com/?ref=me or mydomain.com/index.php?ref=me

I am setting up basic affiliate program and I was wondering if one of the links above is better than the other. They both work, meaning they both set cookie and display the right page.

May be because you shouldn't post links, they are not showing. Can you explain the fundamental differences between your links?

The first href is 9 bytes shorter. Saves you bandwidth...

I don't see any disadvantage in any of the links. Not for users, not for search engine spiders. That is, as long as you don't put an index.html in the same directory (depending on server settings /? could default to index.html, not index.php).
