Dreamweaver MX - Possible bug?

Losing sites set up in Dreamweaver MX

Occasionally, every few months I find that all my web-sites/FTP Connections completely disappear. I think I may have had this problem with Dreamweaver 4. Does anybody else have this problem?

Obviously I get a bit fed up setting the sites up again so I want to avoid this happening in the future if possible.

Is it my PC, related server problem or a Dreamweaver problem?

I've been using Dreamweaver for sometime and never had that problem have you tried re-installing it

It's a problem I've never had, but I have seen many a report of it happening. There is a specific (free) tool out there that exports and backs-up all site definitions - it's been mentioned on this very forum.

Search here or on G for something like 'Dreamweaver site exporter' or the like.

I've been using Dreamweaver from long time but i never faced such kind of problem

I have never had that particular problem with Dreamweaver MX, however, there is another that i used to encounter....i say used to, becuase it hasn't happened for a couple of months now.....touch wood!

Anyway, Dreamweaver would work fine, but suddenly if i tried to select something in certain menus, it would give my an operating error, meaning eventually I had to reinstall the package......which was a bit frustrating.

Had a look for some downloads etc and used some, although i can't remember exactly which......whatever it was, it seems to have worked.

On a silly not, make sure your prefs haven't been deleted. Made that mistake when I kept crashing a few weeks ago, and had to reset all sites.

Stephen, for some odd reason DW chooses to store its site info in the Windows registry rather than an easily located and backed up config file. Do the site disappearances coincide with any kind of OS problem, registry repair, etc.?

Not really, however I have noticed that it sometimes coincides with a slip of the mouse when in Dreamweaver, like I have accidentally clicked a hidden "delete all site definitions" button. I have experienced it on more than one PC.
