Welcome to WebmasterWorld Flolondon,

What OS are you setting this up on?

Hello and welcome to WebmasterWorld.

jatar_k is right - we need to know the OS in order to help with specifics.

In general, you need to install the web server first (Apache). I personally would choose to install PHP next and then add the MySQL server. Test each install to be sure it is operating properly before moving on.

Oh, sorry forgot to say that I installed PHP first, then SQL and then lastly the Apache Server.

(it looks like i did it in the wrong order)

I am not too sure how to install them correctly on the computer. And then what to do to test it and then use it correctly with PHP.

I am a female and determined to know how to do it

Flo

For an easy option consider

www.firepages.com.au

They have packages that do the whole thing for you. You will need to remove the stuff you already have installed though.

Thanks for the message. I will look it up although I really would like to know how to do it the raw way because I think in the long term that raw way of learning to do things is the best learning methods. Thanks.

Theres also a package called Foxpro which installs Apache, PHP, Mysql, Phyton on Windows machines. Only minor configuration in the ini files necessary afterwards.
Download is about 37 MB

but dont you think that its best to know how to do it yourself rather than using all of these instant package mixers.

if you intend to make a living installing this sort of stuff then yes, go for it. otherwise, save yourself the hassle.

Sure, especially when it is rather easy to setup.

YouŽll find yet another prepackaged solution in this thread. Putting a new dynamic PHP/MySQL site on CD - Any technology available to make dynamic access possible? [webmasterworld.com]
