Newbie - HELP.Auto Install Possible for Toolbar

Hi, is anyone familiar with the 'Zango Toolbar'?

And, is it possible for toolbars to auto-install on explorer?

See, this toolbar suddenly appeared on my explorer screen with a pre-populated search phrase in the drop down box....which was to do with teen porn. I went ballistic with my partner.

However, I realised that he always moans about toolbars that 'I' download and wondered if this could have installed itself, with that phrase? So that in reality, he is innocent? I assumed he had searched for it himself...I know he was looking at erotic stuff but it was the 'teen' bit that freaked me out, could I be wrong here? and he didn't search it?

the user would have been prompted to download it, but of course that "prompt" could have been hidden amongst install files for something the user DID want, like poker software or something. Could also have been a vague prompt about installing something, and the user just clicked "yes" because... well, people tend to blindly click things. It's unlikely that it was downloaded on purpose, and also quite likely it was mistakenly downloaded from a non-pornographic site... plus, the toolbar could have easily had those phrases built-in.

You should be able to get rid of it by right-clicking in the general upper area of IE, which will give you a context menu of what buttons/toolbars are open in the browser. That toolbar's name will probably be there with a checkmark next to it, which you can click again to turn off. After that I'd go to add/remove programs and look for it.

also get HijackThis (search google) and scan for any crap the toolbar left behind on your computer.

Does the system have any file sharing apps. I know of two that bundle Zango apps with them
