Question on site building

site building advice needed

hi there. i'm fairly new to this website developement thing.

could anyone help suggest any ideas on how to develop my idea.

i envision a site where people post (for example) a comment on something that happened in a day. then i would like these comments to appear on a page, like comic strip 'baloons' and these baloonscan be clicked and then commented on .... and then it can also be arranged to be a 'top 5' contributions of the day ... and also be stored in a db for future references.

any ideas? any suggestions?

What you could do is begin using a we bloging script and then work out exactly what you want the application to be able to do. For example you can edit the comments template to use your balloon idea.

It is all a matter of trying and testing to see what works well for you, either a cms or a blog script may be a good starting point.
