Do designers depend on friends? Or are there better ways?

I am launching of on the design of a new website which I believe has long range commercial potential. I have learned from experience that once you get into it you lose some objectivity? How have other people manged this?

I have designed several sites for others. I rely on client feedback - and that of friends and family.

There are also threads in other forums for getting feedback from other web developers and designers. I haven't been around here long enough to know if there is a specific thread but can you post a link? I'd be happy to take a look.

Remaining objective is always difficult but important to good design.

well you're not allowed to post a link here (see the TOS) but you've got the right idea. Show your design to other experts, usability experts, other designers.. and also show your design to some regular folk. Feedback is always important.
