Hello, maryrose.
You are in the good track. Continue learning HTML and testing in your computer the pages you make. When you feel that you are getting those pages the way you want, begin to think a topic for a website. Research several possibilities, and choose the one that match better with your tastes and your resources. Find a place to lodge your site and promote it as well as you can.
Good luck.

I like TechnoGeek's idea.

If you build a site on something that interests you then you should be able to build a very good website. The most important aspect of a site is its content. If you know a subject well then you will be able to write a lot of very compelling content on your subject.

If you build a website that has very good content then it will become respected within its topic. This can lead to a lot of incoming links to your site and will help you receive good traffic long term.
