I'm new to webdevelopement and trying to get started in Affiliate Marketing. I have many ideas for this type of business and others as well. My first affiliate site that is up and running is only receiving about 40-50 unique visitors per day. Sometimes it jumps to 150 when I just placed an ad online, but then it slowly decends. I have many questions but first I just want an honest opinion on my web site design(maybe encouragement is what I'm looking for?) Is it O.K. to post my website URL here for an opinion. I'm not trying to advertise, I just need educated minds to assess my humble beginnings. Maybe a moderator can let me know if it's ok to put my URL here for members to give me suggestions.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Hello rventure and welcome to WebmasterWorld.

We don't do website reviews as the downside of such practices is to open up the forum to massive spamming.

We still manage to have some pretty good conversations and exchange a good bit of knowledge without going the "review my website" route.

Take some time and read the library threads in each sub-forum that interests you. There's a wealth of knowledge "in the library". :)

Also, read these:

WebmasterWorld TOS or Terms of Service [webmasterworld.com]

Thread about promotional posts in forums [webmasterworld.com]

Once you understand the rules it will be easier to know what you can post and what you ought not post.

Brett Tabke posted a set of his guidelines on Feb 3, 2002. I believe that it still applies today. He recommends that site design should be "The simpler the better."

The post has to do with designing for a commercially successful site. I suggest you find it and read. Maybe another member has the URL?

The referenced post from Brett is at:

and taken on the whole, it's still quite sound.
