subdomains

I'm building a couple of small sites in subdomains of my own site. I'm using subdomains so the owners can preview them before i send them live under their own domain. I'm using Dreamweaver mx.

Here's the problem: The first subdomain is set up and running nicely. The second subdomain is set up, but it won't show up online. I keep getting error messages when I try to view it in ie & firefox.

I've set up the second subdomain in the same way as the first... it seems logical to me that it should work. But I think there might be something wrong with the heirarchy of the files.

I've just spent two days on this problem, but I won't be daunted! Any advice will be most appreicated.

I actually contacted them before enquiring here, but I was more confused than ever after speaking with the tech.

I seem to have overcome part of the problem. I'm using Dreamweaver, which makes a temporary file for previewing. But I'm still not able to preview any "frameset" page. That would be any page which contains frames.

These pages can be uploaded to the site ok. But I need to make sure they look good before I do that.

When you create the files on your computer, check to be sure that you are not creating portions into the folder that contains files from your previously published site. You have to create a separate folder and recreate any shared files (images etc) in the new site folder. DW always tries to default back to previous folders for some reason, and it can sometimes cause problems. I assume that you created a "frame" page, since the site you published was a "frameset" site as well.

This seems like an overly simplistic suggestion, but sometimes the obvious can be easily overlooked. Good Luck!
