simple database

I want to set up a simple database

Hi all
I look after the website for a soccer club. What I would like to do is create a database so that
1) parents can register their kid's from a form on the website
2) create a mailing list from the database to e-mail/post info to all members
3) send an sms to all members (eg-game cancelled due to weather etc)

I work on a Mac, but ideally this needs to be X platform. Any suggestions?
