Hello,

I just have tried out 2 different SEO tools.
The Sim Spider tool and the Server Header Checker.

In my own website, i have a 301 redirect in my htaccess: http:// example.com to www. example.com

Checking my non-www domain,
The Server Header Checker tool sais '301 Moved Permanently' but the Sim Spider tool sais '200'.

Why is the Sim Spider tool different?
Why does it not say also '301 Moved Permanently'?
Does this mean that the seach engines do not see my 301 redirect?

Thanks in advance,

Checking my non-www domain,
The Server Header Checker tool said '301 Moved Permanently' but the Sim Spider tool sais '200'.

The SHC is telling you that the URI you entered returns a 301 Permanently Moved.

The SIM Spider is telling you that the final destination URI is returning a 200. SIM Spider followed the 301 and then spidered the destination page, that is why you see a 200.

Yep the spider simulator will act just like a spider would as it crawls. It will follow the 301 or 302 redirection to the end destination. It will then present a status 200 to let you know it arrived at the end point. The SHC on the other hand will show all the junctions it encounters along the way.
