I'm not too sure if my site has suddenly been "banned" by Google.

It was listed last week, but over this weekend it has disappeared from the index. I think there might be one problem with it:

I use white text with a white background, although to make the text visible I use red layout tables to frame the text.

I believe Google may think that I'm using "hidden text". Is there any way to remedy this? I really don't want to change my text colour!

Sadly it is not un-common for sites to suddenly disappear from Google. Usually when this happens the site will re-appear within a couple of weeks.

There are also sites that fall out of the index because of things the webmaster has done that are in breach of the search engines rules.

I don't believe what you have done would be enough to get your site banned. Because the text was within a table it was not using the same colour of text as your background. I know this doesn't sound very helpful but if I where you I would wait a few weeks before making any changes.

Well, to be safe I've removed all basic foormatting from the webpage and replaced it with a reference to a CSS, which turns all the text white. I've heard that Google probably doesn't look at CSS......

I'll keep an eye on Google, hopefully it'll come back on soon.
