I want to learn dynamic page design from absolutely scratch! can anyone suggest me whether to go for PHP or ASP.net , which one is easier to learn and (2) is more useful for webpages. My site wont be too big! Thanks rose

PHP is definitely easier than ASP.net (in my limited opinion).
Both have their uses for webpages. It's a choice of your server availability and how much time you want to spend coding and maintaining code.

php is free, and it also runs on operating systems/servers that are free. It has a very large user base with a lot of code samples etc.
