Hello,
Is it important to add keywords and descriptions to my site before submitting to directories. Does it gave any impact one way or the other?

Thanks

It is of course important to optimise your site, but as to directory submission specifically, it is far and away more important to adhere to the submission guidelines of each directory where you elect to submit your site.

Take the Open Directory Project aka dmoz submission guidelines as one example. The guidelines are rather clear a submitter should not proffer a keyword stuffed title and/or a description that has more ooze than an overly warmed jelly doughnut.

if you are talking about the keywords and descriptions meta tag then they really are not importaint, especialy for directories. Directories are human edited, they will look for quality before they accept your submission.

Keywords and descriptins are very much depreciated. Now search engines tend to analyse your page based on on page content.
