I am very new to website building but having fun none the less. I do not understand how to develop my site using sub domains. Are these separate sections that come together under one so called "umbrella" that is the domain? How do I link them to my regular domain? I have no problem building webpages but just don't quite see the correlation.

According to that "Subdomain info" link, I've been misunderstanding things. I thought the subdomains were what came after the / : webmasterworld.com/forum48, for example, with the forum48 being the subdomain. What would be the correct term for that part of the URL? (Yeah, I know, a real noobie question, but this is the forum for that, right?)
