Multiple requests for FrontPage components.

Is this a hack attempt?

In the past week, my site's tracking in the cpanel shows that the file /_vti_bin/_vti_aut/author.exe (which is 15.50 MB) has been accessed 39 times using a total of about 604.63 MB of my bandwidth. All this activity happened on one day in one hour. I don't know what this file does or what it is for, but I am concerned that it has had this activity. Should I be woried? From a google search on this file, I found that someone posted a concern about a possible hacking attempt and I was wondering if anyone here could shed some light on this.

If memory serves, that is part of the FrontPage extensions on a site.

Could be a hacking attempt, could not be. If you don't use FrontPage, remove the FrontPage extentions on that site.
