Does the landing page affect navigation? ..can the navigation be removed altogether to increase conversion?

By landing page i mean the page on which the visitor arrives after clicking a link. Whether it cna be through a search engine or from the site. COnversion refers to the action that we want to have from the visitor. It can be either placing the order or contacting the company.

Are you saying that you want to trap the visitor on the page, with no options other than to click "Buy"? I'll find my way to the back button quick enough:))
