Great forums and alot of help here but its far to advanced for me and I think I might be in danger of trying to run before I can walk.

If anyone can direct me to a site more basic for beginers I'd be gratefull.Sorry if not the done thing to ask but really am getting rather desperate.

The site I have up and running I did from home on frontpage 98 because that is what I have to work with.So.......No knowledge of anything else and now trying to promote site ect.Understand about linking ect but would love to know how search engines and whatever else see my site if at all!
Until I read through these forums I was rather pleased to be up to double figures in unique visits per day but feel rather silly now.
Thanks.

I think the best thing you can do is focus on one area at a time, dont try to take it all in. Web development is a very vast description of many industries.

Try to get a grasp of the basics, then move into other areas. Try to gain a good overall understanding of many areas.

In general there is no one source that can tell you everything you need to know. My recomendation is to stick around on the forums and slowly let your experience build. Then when you hit problems ask specific questions. :)

Probably not the answer you where hoping for, but I think it's the best way you can improve your development skills. We all had to start off at the same stage you are at now. The best learning tool you have at your disposal is experimentation. Try things out, when you have problems look for answers. In the end it all falls together as you become more experienced.

I agree, I don't think I've seen one certain source that could tell you everything.

I've learned most of what I know by reading here.

You'll find a ton of information on google or any of the search engines.

I've took a couple of college classes (working towards a degree) they can help some.

It is like any other profession, it takes time to learn and you should learn from all different sources...
