What would you do?

I got an email inquiry about doing a website. The company says they are in the photography/talent industry and want a site along those lines...with also some clothing/items pages attached as well. hmmm....models,talent,clothing? I checked for them on the BBB,and they are rated a D because of the industry they are in. anyway, they seem kind of shady..but I am not sure. how do you decide who you will do sites for, and where do you draw the line? how would you professionally go about turning someone down if you don't want to do their site? I know it is a paycheck, but I just don't know about making a website for someone that purposefully deceives people.
TIA

A paycheck is a paycheck but a good nights sleep is better. Be truthful - tell them you have some concerns about their bussines and see how they react.

Everyone has their own limits. Photography/talent can be tasteful or sleazy. Ask to see representative "samples". If you personally feel uncomfortable with the content pass on the job.

If the content does not bother you that leaves concern about payment. So write a contract that is tight and that gives you payment(s) before doing the work i.e. 25-50% upfront, do that amount of work and then stop until paid another "deposit" and then doing that work, and so on until project is complete.

You should always work to a contract: see the many threads here on the subject as well as talk with your lawyer. You should always get paid before delivery (that being your main weapon) but the terms are up to you to set and you to insist on.

i did a site once for a male model pay site, half nakie guys for a company in the UK. Needless to say its the very past pic in my portfolio. I hated doing it, a friend or my wife would walk in and seeing me working on pics of guys in photoshop that were a little less than dressed, not full nude but more than i would ever want to see. If i can do that, this should be no problem... just close your eyes and hope everything goes ok ;)
