Question about forwarding

Hello everyone.
You all have answered my web building questions, I thought you may have input on an email question. Hopefully it's ok to post this here.
I have all of my email coming to an aol email address.
I have finally gotten out of the stone age and will be getting a cable modem next week, so I will no longer need my aol account.
I think if I cancel this account, there is no way to have my email automatically forwarded to my new address.
Is this correct, or are there any solutions to this other than keeping my aol account current?
Thanks!
- Dave

Since you don't control AOL, you can't set up a forward.

I believe, however, that AOL has an "email only" service, but you'll have to ask them about it.

One thing I would do is stop replying to people from your AOL account, and use your new email address.

Also, I would strongly recommend not using an "ISP" email address - what happens when you switch providers again in a few years?

If I were you I would start using an email on one of my own domains as soon as possible - that way you will never be tied to AOL, a cablecompany etc ever again.

When I swithched email addresses.. I turned on "autorespond" and had ne message containing my new email address.. This was when switching from a Yahoo! Address to my domain address. I am unsure as to whether AOL has this option...
