This is a really basic question from a novice in Dreamweaver. I could probably eventually find the solution but only by trial and error. I`m working in tables. When I start a new line in a right hand cell, the position of the text etc. in the one to the left centralises to a new position. How do I avoid this? i.e. stop the text in the left-hand table from moving in tandem?

You can specify exact table cell widths.

one way to do this, is to first specify in an untitled doc the size of the cell you need....then play with it in there until you get the size you want within that parameter. copy paste your text after that.

if you are in layout mode, you can set the cell size, and do basically the same thing...just go into a blank page and create a cell, put your text/image or whatever in it and size it how you need to so that the size of the cell is where you need it to be...then copy paste that in the working page cell.

hope this was clear and helped!
(another note, when dealing with images, I always set the layout cell how I want it to look first...imagining the image in it, and then I go into Adobe and change the image size to just 1 pixel under that. then save the image and insert it.
good luck!
