directory site software

I started my first site about three months ago, and now it is doing better than I first thought it would, even though I really don't know that much html. I was thinking maybe I can start a second site. The first site does reviews on widgets, so I figure I could make a second site that is a directory of widgets.

Is there any easy drop in software that I can use to make a directory style site? My host uses Apache on linux. They also have cgi, php,perl and mysql. I've programmed in perl before, but not in a web environment. I could make the site with html only, but if it gets big it would be hard to maintain, also I don't know of a good way to have a search option that way.
