I want to create a simple form which once filled in e-mails it's results back to me. I understand how to layout the form on a web page - what I need to know is how easy is the back end scripting on a form? Is there a simple way to do this?

In Google, type in "Free CGI Scripts" - and you'll find all kinds of neat stuff.

One of the best sites is "Matt's Scripts"

The scripts are already written and come with instructions on how to easily customize it for your website.

You can also check out www formmail.to - where it's hosted at another website. Fast and easy to build, but off site.

Good Luck

Jam_Jar,

Lot's of freee formmail products out there, just make sure you get a secure one that doesn't pass the TO: address in the form. Formmail that is secure should only allow the TO: to be defined on the server side, otherwise spammers or hackers will eventually locate your site and take your form for a joy ride.

Good point.

And if you don't know how to upload it to your hosting account, you better ask someone who knows. It's not hard, but there's a few things you will have to do different then just uploading a normal .html page.

Thanks - that was really quick. I'll try and speak to our hosting company to ensure we upload it correctly.

Also, if you go to Google, you'll find some services that generate free contact forms for you that do more advanced things like message attachements, all sorts of field types, ability to send to multiple addresses, capability to check your messages from an online control panel, and a bunch of other stuff. There is one that I've used in the past that works really well. I won't drop a URL bomb here but if you sticky me I'll send it to you.
