hi,

will start with an example.
suppose i have created the image in photoshop with 2 layers. the 1st payer contains the image and the 2nd layer contains the text.

the psd is then saved to make jpg.

if the psd is lost, can i seperate the layers using the available JPG for further moifications.
please advice.

No - the jpg is "flattened" - is does not contain the layer information found in a psd file.

too much information

the only way to do it would be to open the file, create a duplicate layer and remove the text from one and the image from the other.

Or remove the text, create a new layer and retype the text again.

Once the image is flattened, or saved as a jpg, you can't separate the layers again without some major editing.
