Some Qusetions
1. Which is the best in terms of size, fewest adds reliabilty etc..
2. How easy is it to a)put the site up in the first place b) edit the site once it's up
3. Is it possible to use SEO tactics on a site hosted like this?
any other factors I should be aware of?
The log files are basic and do not have full referer details but all else is good.
The only limitation is that you have to use their dialup connection to FTP at 0845 rate.
I have some budget sites there and all is as OK refarding S/E listings.
But for a personal web site, doteasy.com is totally a fantastic option. You can have ftp access, a real dot com name that belongs to you, and free hosting for a year!
That's so cheap even a six year old can afford it!
No ads, banners, or pop-anything-or-anywhere.
There's also paid hosting available with some hosts for under $25 a year (you get your domain name wherever you want - as cheap as $8.95) that has CGI, SSI, PHP, MySQL, mod_rewrite, the works.
