Yes. Ranking depends mostly on how many well established sites link to yours. If on one particular subject your page is the most relevant and the most linked you'll appear on top of results. Relevancy is determined differently by every search engines. It's usually a complex (and secret) algorithm taking in account many factors (up to 100).
