Hi,
I am presently developing sites using Dreamweaver 4.

I would like to install and familarise myself with Dreamweaver MX.

My question is would the installation of MX overwrite or cause any particular problems with my DW4?

many thanks.

Someone I know did exactly that. He had no problems and very quickly got to grips with DW MX coming to the conclusion that with hindsight he would take the plunge straight into DW MX.

However early versions of DW MX were known to crash and wipe out sight definitions U/N P/Ws etc.

So if I were you, I would get a little utility to export ALL the DW configs. There is a free one called I think "Dreamweaver Exporter or Backup" also a multi APP version I think called "Macromedia Exporter or backup".

I migrated direct to DW MX and used an export utility to carry all my sites into MX from v4.xx I think. No problems and got very quickly into MX.

ramp: I did this same exact thing about one month ago. I had been using DW4 for about six months. Then finally was able to get MX. I installed MX on my computer, then checked to make sure everything in DW4 was ok- and it was.

I'm sure once you start using MX you'll love it. I know I do. There are so many more improvements over 4. I'm getting into things that I didn't think I would, just because the interface is so much more user-friendly. Good luck!

Also, it takes all the sites you have set up from v4 and places them into mx - so you dont have to redefine them all.
