Hi all,
I'm being swamped by offers of reciprocal links to my website. How does it all work? To get up SE listing is it best to link to like business? Or, just by having millions of links, does that help?
Thank you in advance
Swedish Linda

Link to business with a simillar nature to yours. Simillar keywords... etc.

Be careful about linking to dodgy sites, "bad neighbours" as that can hurt your ranking.

If you can pick and choose, check them out and just link to the ones that have put your link on a page with high PR.

Making sure the sites you link to are quality sites also includes asking yourself, "Will the customers/members/visitors" of my website benefit from a potential visit to this site?"

  • One way links are best
  • Relevancy is important
  • Make sure that you are linking to a site of real content
  • Make sure they are not linking to you from a page that has 100s of other links
  • Anchor text matters
  • Google pagerank is not accurate anymore
  • Sites listed in DMOZ are generally good
  • Check the rankings of the other site
  • Older sites are better to exchange links with.
  • Yahoo and Google value each site differently
  • One quality link is better than 100 links from non-valued sites

Also write some sort of description of the site you are linking to, not just the name and a link like many people tend to do.

    Good Luck
