Hi!

This is my first post.

Recently I decided to engage in eCommerce. My friend suggested me to visit this forum.

I heard there’s a possibility to make money on the web by selling the products of other firms (sponsors) through my site. I was very interested in this aspect of eCommerce. I’m new in this business and I would be thankful for any information, such as how and where I can find sponsors, and what are the problems I may encounter.

Thank you for any help.

Me and you both Nag!

Tip: look for the word 'affilate' rather than 'sponsor'.

Hey, let's team up, we newbys should stick together!

Be sure to check out the library in that forum (and for that matter, any forum you visit here). You'll find several excellent threads about starting out.

Thanks to all for help.

Thank you for your answer and tip, Alan.

I agree with you. Lets change information with each other.
How long are you in this bisness?
On what project you work now? Have you your works on the web at all? They yield money already? Sorry for quastions, may be I`m very curious..
I`m new in ecom and havn`t any site that earns me money at present time. What directions (selling of what goods) you think are the most lucrative? I understand that almost all depends on rating of your site, but nevertheless…
About this online bisness I heared from my friend. He has been engaged in it during one year and now it brings him quite good incom. And what encouraged you to make money on the web such a way?

Dimitrian.

Hi,

I learnt the long, slow hard way how to create a site and have been running one for about 5 or 6 years now. Thing is, it's a labour of love, not at all commercial (you know the guy's who pelted the British PM with a condom full of purple powder? I formed the organisation which spawned that lot, bless em. I run the International Men's Network).

I've recently moved to Borneo and as it's not easy for me to get a work permit etc, have been looking into making money online. Have written a book on the subject above, sold a few copies but wasn't happy with the publisher's website, which advertises their services more than my book. So hunted for a site that accepts self-published, controversial books.. Couldn't find one, am building one.

I only need sell a few copies of my own book to be happy (low cost of living) and the site is both a showcase for my book and possible revenue if the surfer buys any other book.

:o)

Am not too impressed with the standard Amazon system, at around 60c a sale it wont produce enough cash to cover the costs of promoting a website, though on another thread someone assures me it can work out as peeps buy more than one product etc.

So my first tip: Find a lower volume, higher profit product if possible. Thousands of visitors is not thousands of sales; to break someone's surfing into the "OK, Where's my credit card?" mode is probably no harder for an expensive item than a cheap one, as long as it's good value and they want it.

I stress however, I'm very much a newby at earning, as opposed to just being familiar with the internet and running a site if not for 'fun' then through passion.

Once my new book site is up and running I'll be spending most of my time looking for a new idea and will create another site. I'll still build the one I'm working on now because I want people to READ the books as much as I want to sell them. I'm still looking around at hosts, though may stick with my present hosting company, they're fast and give CS within the hour, never down etc. The stats are naff but have found a free service that looks good, though it means adding a bit of code to every page. I wouldn't want to do that with the 500 page IMN site but with a new site from scratch, not a problem. The service is statscounter.snipped

As I say, for me it's very viable, if I can make 400 dollars a month, that's reasonable income here in Borneo! If you're living in the UK or US you really need to take it seriously and be willing to invest.

This forum is superb for learning little points here and there, though I rarely have a clue when they use intials. Here's what I've figured so far:

CPC - cost per click
ROI - Return on investment

No, I don't normally write such long replies :o)

Hi, Alan!

Your story surprized me, I thought you was from US. Don`t know why I was thinking so… By the way, I am not from US or UK too. I live in Ukrain (it is the former USSR). Here the cost of living is also lower then in US, but money is not such a thing to bee much B-) May I ask where had you been living before you moved to Borneo?
As far as a see, you write freely in English, are you in Borneo speak in English? As for me, I have problems with this language… may bee you see it from me replies.

Earlier I was engaged in creating sites for order. I thought out design, wrote code and nothing more, I never havn`t been engaged in promoting websites. At the same time I am a computer administrator in a bank. Once my friend told me that he earns 200-400 dollars a week (he sells smb. else's goods through internet). Its much more then I earn on my legal work (80-100$ a month and must work for 9-12 hours, isn’t fun?), so I decide to make money online.
Now I`m looking for appropriate affilate program. I also thought about Amazon… lets try to thought out how to make peeps to by more then one book at once B-)

You said that you are very much a newby at earning money online, but you wrote a book on this subject.. I don`t understand..
Will you give me url of your site? It would be very interesting for me to look at it.

Please, tell me about that organisation ( International Men`s Network), what you do in it?

Thank you for that initials, I have met them already and didn`t know what they mean. Don`t you know what is ODP?

Hi,

I have no idea what ODP is!

The book I wrote snipped is not about web promotion, it's about political correctness, the destrution of families in the West and so on. The IMN is about father's rights, men's rights and so on. Think 'feminism' but for men.

Makes a change ay?

I have spend most of my life in the UK, different parts of it but this is my first time living somewhere else.

I suggest we communicate via email, this is more a business than a 'chat' forum?

You can contact me via snipped
