I am currently a senior in highschool with not much time on the side, at most an hour or two a day on weekdays. I am interested mainly in using web developing as a learning experience, and exploring the field in case one day I decide to use it as a main source of income. For this reason, I would be happy to make around $5 a day. I understand that this is not as easy as it seems, and am willing to put in time and some money (although I don't have much) to accomplish it. What I would like to know is, what is the best method of doing so?
In these forums I am bombarded with many different aspects of web developing, including affiliates programs, PPC banners, e-book writing, and the creation of content sites and the like. I have read many articles on each of them, but feel those with experience in these areas could best answer my question.
Over the summer I would be able to put a significant amount of time into work, but once school starts my site would have to be sustained with an hour or two a day of work. As far as my skills go I am able to create pretty good web pages with Dreamweaver, and plan to expand my skill in doing so.
I have noticed that most users of this forum are skilled professionals in the field, many of whom are in the business for a living. The articles I have read here have been extremely informative, and I am hoping that users will be able to provide insight into the best ways to accomplish my goals. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
I would start off by building sites on topics that interest you. This makes it a little easier because you are writing about something you know about. It is hard enough learning the basics of building the site without having to research the subject also. So if you like cars build a site about cars.
In terms of generating some income you may want to try your hand at affiliate marketing or maybee use adsense on your site. This may not exactly make the bank balence explode but will earn you a little extra money. Once you feel confident you may be able to charge for your services.
It all takes time, and you do have a lot to learn. I suggest to get stuck in here and get reading ;-)
