Must be doing something wrong.

Indexed inside pages never show in SERPs

I have 4 sites that are all indexed on Google (all pages) but the inner pages never show in the SERPs.

On MSN an Y not many of the inner pages are indexed and only the index page shows in SERPs.

When I do a search for keywords on inner page the index, which isn't optimized for those keywords at all will show instead.

Could it be that I'm doing something wrong while constructing sites? Many inner pages link right from the home page.

artdog,
Do you have any querystring variables? Something like test.asp?var1=a&var2=b&var3=c&var4=d

If you have over three, consider using a rewrite. If you are rewriting your url's sticky me with a url of a site that isn't and I'll take a look for you.

You won't find the same ranking or pages indexed by any search engine. Based on my experience Google crawls deeper. Even though the page is indexed does not mean it will shop up in SERP.

Yahoo and MSN use different ranking methods.

Thanks for the reply. Finally got frustrated enough to put up this post. Late yesterday got a nudge to search Google for keyword phrase and one of my inner pages showed up on the 3rd page. Maybe G heard me?

No search strings.

Still not sure what to do. All of the pages ahead of mine got there by Google bombing and don't wish to do so. Do you think outside links to these inner pages would give them greater weight than 60 - 70% keyword density like competitors?
