Second posting, fairly new to all this.
Why is it that when you put a search term like exit into a SE it returns sites that have nothing to do with the subject? Can we say that it's because they have good SEOs working for them? I don't think so because the SEO is not providing useful traffic, nor is the SE providing useful results for that matter.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.
a search term like exit
If you're wondering about why G thinks that Disney.com is the most relevant site for the term exit, that can be easily explained. Many, many sites have a front-page "If you are offended" disclaimer with a choice between "Enter" and "Exit" at the bottom. The "enter" link goes inside and the "exit" link often times goes to Disney.com. (It's a bit of a joke, if you find something offensive on their site, you'll probably be less offended by disney's site.)
So G thinks that when people are looking for "exit" they must be looking for disney.com because, golly, look at all the sites who claim disney.com IS exit. Kind of a neat way of showing how inbound links and anchor text can actually determine the relevance for particular terms. :)
