Something weird has happened to my site. I submitted it several months ago to google an yahoo. It is not on yahoo at all and the only way I found it on google is to search with parenthesis before and after the name of the company which is the domain name by the way and are heavily used search terms. The only thing that came up was the page for about us. Under other search terms nothing came up on either site. Before I do anything about ranking I want to know why the about us page came up. I don’t even have a lot of tags or any search engine optimization for that page. I would appreciate anyone shedding some light on this. This might all be cleared up soon as a month ago I submitted my site again with much better search term relevancy and the overall text if better. In case it does not get fix I still want to know why this might have happe

You shouldn't need to submit your site to get it listed, when I put up a new site it's usually in google within a week or two, then the so-called sandbox effect (see the google forums for that topic) kicks in, and it drops in the SERPs for a while, then comes back up. But I always create some inbound links from other sites to help the search spiders along.

If nobody is linking to your site, or if you haven't made links from a site currently listed in google/yahoo, you won't get spidered in any consistent way.

Check your stats for slurp and googlebot, if they are spidering your site you will get listed soon, if they aren't you need to create inbound links to your site.
