Hi,

here's a little question that has been baffling me for some time.

If I search on Google for my site name my website comes up on a lot of directory websites, and the actual site comes up some 3 pages in.

However if I search against a keyword I find that I get 200,000+ results.

How then can I tell if my website is being picked up against a keyword search and where is it in the rankig i.e. No1 ot No 210,000.

Do I have to flick through each page, or is there an easier way of finding out where I stand

Regards

Yep, unfortunately you pretty much have to manually search to find where you rank - automated checkers are against pretty much all of the SEs terms of service.

A hint though: use advanced search options to return 100 results per page, and then use your browser's 'edit-find' function to search for part of your domain name - a lot faster than scanning visually.

Bear in mind that on Google the results will be grouped differently with more results on the page, but it will give you an idea where you appear, and if you want exact normal rankings you can repeat with the default results per page.
