embedding HTML in e-mail

(I don't want to... I HAVE to)

I know it's evil, but I have to design an email announcement that, because of the visual elements required, will probably have to be done with HTML. (The client will not go for plain text -- there's no getting around it.)

I've got the HTML page ready, but I don't know how to properly embed it in the body of the email message.

I tried:
1. copy/pasting the page from the browser
2. File > Send Page by E-mail
3. recreating it in Word, then sending to Outlook.

Nothing works adequately.

Surely I've overlooked a simple solution...?

You have to send it as an attachment, but there is an option to send the attachment inline (or something like that).

I haven't done it for so long in Outlook that I don't remember how. Infacta has a nice free version of Email client that simply says "send HTML message".

However, a couple of days ago I switched to Thunderbird (a free Mozilla alternative to Outlook). With Thunderbird you have to go to Options>Attachments>Inline. That's it.

Sticky on the way, the easiest way I've found is to use an application I found on the web.

In Outlook, change to Format > HTML, then Insert > File > choose your html document, click the little down arrow next to the Insert button, choose "Insert as Text".

A detour from the topic, but how are you liking Thunderbird? Any particular pros/cons? I'm not unhappy with Outlook, but keeping my eyes open. (Quite a few accounts and bunches of folders to manage.)

Also, Outlook Express has a 'source' tab at the bottom of the compose screen. Just paste your HTML in and send.

D_Blackwell:

I was surprised with how good Thunderbird is.

It is very similar to Outlook. Very easy to use!
